MAFCE Mission Statement:

The Martial Arts & Fitness Center of Excellence (MAFCE) trains, educates and develops instructors focused on optimizing performance, increasing durability, through a holistic methodology in physical fitness and martial arts to increase unit readiness in order make a more lethal warfighter. The MAFCE improves the warfighting capability of individual Marines and units, through the implementation of three programs of instruction: Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, Force Fitness Instructor Program, and Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival. The MAFCE uses contemporary science, subject matter experts, and collaborates with health and wellness professionals in developing its programs. The MAFCE serves as the center of excellence for all units to receive guidance and support that will enhance their abilities to accomplish their assigned mission and is responsible for the program development, standards, and procedures of its respective instructional programs.

Raider Hall Hours: Monday-Friday from 0800-1600 (Must have base access)

Raider Hall, an extension of the National Museum of the Marine Corps (NMMC), honors the World War II Marine Raiders. All visitors must be escorted by a MAFCE staff member to view the exhibits. Please note that MAFCE staff cannot sponsor base access for visitors. To ensure staff availability for the required escort, prospective visitors should coordinate their arrival in advance with MAFCE Operations.

Prior to contacting the MAFCE staff about coordinating the donation of artifacts, consult the NMMC “Donation Wish List” online to ensure your items align with the specific collection. If eligible, complete a “Donation Information Form” and email it to the NMMC Collections Branch and MAFCE Operations. Forms and detailed instructions are available at: https://www.usmcmuseum.com/make-a-donation.html.

Course Enrollment & Eligibility

Registration: The MAFCE does not handle course enrollments or drops for MAITC or FFIC. All requests must be routed through your unit's MARFOR Formal Schools Section. For WSA Courses, all nominations will be routed through the Ramer Hall Training Tank MCIWS Chief.

Type 2 SDA Billet 36-Month Tour MCB Quantico

Are you ready to shape the future of Marine Corps combat readiness? Join the elite team at the Marine Corps Martial Arts and Fitness Center of Excellence. We are seeking dedicated and professional Marines to serve as Martial Arts Instructor Trainers, Force Fitness Instructor Trainers, and Water Survival Instructors. This is a unique opportunity to fill a highly screened billet and make a lasting impact on the fighting spirit and physical prowess of the United States Marine Corps.

Step 1: Initial Screening

Complete the Staff Screening Checklist, ensuring all sections are filled out—including medical information and signatures from your chain of command.

Required Documents:
  • Completed Staff Screening Checklist
  • Professional Resume
  • Professional Biography
  • Basic Training Record (BTR)
Submit To:
Email your completed package to the MAFCE SNCOIC, and CC the MAFCE Operations Chief.

Step 2: Interview & Selection

Upon receipt of your completed checklist, the MAFCE will contact you to schedule a formal interview. Selection is based heavily on this interview.

Be Prepared to Discuss:
  • The specific impact you have made on your unit's programs.
  • Your experience and certifications as an instructor.
  • Your chain of command's willingness to send you to Facilitate Learning Experience prior to checking into the MAFCE (if you have not yet attended).
Interview Prep Tip:
To gain more insight into what we are looking for, contact the respective Program Chief to request a Position Description (PD) for your desired billet prior to your interview.

Step 3: Final Steps & Orders

If selected, you will receive the staff screening checklist back, complete with the MAFCE chain of command's signatures.

Next Actions:
  • Request Orders: Submit a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) RELM with your local career planner. Your career planner will have all the requirements to qualify you to submit a RELM for this Type 2 SDA.
  • Execute Orders: Once the SDA monitor receives your package, the MAFCE will coordinate directly with you and the SDA monitor to determine the best time to execute your orders.
